The statement was a bombshell. One of the biggest worldwide casino operators has just told, on its blog, the end of free parking of its casinos. Now, it is required to pay to park in the venues.

Free parking on The Strip is a Heritage of the city. Nevertheless, the powerful operator MGM Resorts International, via its CEO Jim Murren has just decided the end of this privilege.

Remember that MGM is: The Bellagio and its fountain, The Mirage and its volcano, the Circus Circus and its circus theme, the Mandalay Bay and its beach, the Luxor and its pyramid, Excalibur and its castle, the MGM Grand and its shows or the New York New York and its Statue of Liberty.

But for what reasons the company took this decision risking to lost many clients?

The objective for the group is to invest $90 millions dollars to renew the parking lots, currently not modern enough according to the American giant.

A system of fees will actively participate to finance this investment. Thus, an overnight could cost more than $10.

MGM was the first to not allow cash on its poker tables. A decision followed by several big casinos as the Caesar Palace.

A psychosis is arriving for the parking lots. Like the Resort Fees, will the others resorts take the same decision? This could be the very end to the free parking in Las Vegas.

Even if it is not the worth news of all time, it is always upsetting to pay before playing.

Let’s hope that this news won’t prevent visitors to go in casinos!
