Collioure is a municipality of the Pyrénées-Orientales, located at nearly 20 kilometres from the Spanish border.
Its 3,000 inhabitants benefit form a Mediterranean climate that make the days very pleasant all year long. Of course, this number tends to widely increase during summer. Nothing more understandable as you see the number of things to do and to see here.
Former fishermen's village, Collioure possesses 8 buildings listed as "historic monuments". A very impressive fact for such a small place. It is not surprising to see many artists install their studio. By the way, you can visit those places while using the "Fauvism path" that will make you cross the most beautiful part of the city: the Mouré.
By strolling down the authentic harbor, you will find the church of Our Lady of the Angels, which is one the most photographed churches of France.
The two other monuments that are not to be missed remain the Saint Elme Fort and the Royal Castle. They have contributed to the History of France and show a stunning architecture.
The small touristic train of the Vermeille Coast could be an interesting option if you wish to get more historic information without moving to much.
